We will have Mauna Sadhana on Saturday July 31, 2010 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 Noon.
 
Bring japamala and scriptural book. Plan to be seated by 7:55 AM.

Please use Smrti entrance to enter Smrti Hall. Smrti entrance will be locked after 8:00 AM.

2.  Gurudeva’s Mahasamadhi – Tuesday, Aug 3, 2010

On occasion of Pujya Gurudeva’s Mahasamadhi, we will have Pratima Puja on Tuesday August 3 at 7:30 PM. Please mark your calendars and plan to be there for this special Puja.

Plan to be seated by 7:20 PM.

Please bring decorated plate with padukas and/or diya, flowers and rice for puja, Prarthana Piyusa, match box, 2 ziplock bags.

3.  Plants needed for Chinmaya Prabha Garden

Last winter we have lost some plants in Prabha and our gardening volunteers are looking for help in getting the following plants:
Bilvaptra,  Mango,   Neem (Bitter),    Drumstick (Sahjan)

4.   Chinmaya Seva – Donating blood for WBC

We received the following e-mail from Sri Manikandan Natarajan:

I really got a good help from people through chinmaya mission. I am very grateful for the support got from you all.

Now my wife is doing ok, still undergoing treatment though. We may need more donors as doctors progress through the treatment.

Again thank you so much for all your help and support.

5.  CMH Photodirectory 2010

Sign up Procedure:
Next Sunday, July 11th we will begin the sign up process. Visit our website www.chinmayahouston.org to schedule your own appointment or sign up at table in the dining area. Early sign-ups will get the first choice of time! We look forward to seeing you.

Photo sessions dates:
Thursdays to Sundays starting from August 5 upto August 29.
 
Photo sessions times:
Thursday & Friday – evenings
Saturday & Sunday – whole day

Costs:
There is no cost to have you and your family photographs taken, and you will receive a complimentary 8×10 portrait and directory for participating. You will be able to view your images electronically immediately after photography. At that time, you will have the opportunity to purchase additional portraits to share with family and friends.
 
Help needed:

6.  Read-A-Thon-2010

The Chinmaya Mission Bala Vihar Read-A-Thon 2010 campaign provides our children an opportunity to raise funds for building additional Bala Vihar class rooms.

Please download the reading log and sponsorship form by visiting https://chinmayahouston.org/upcoming-events. Our library has a large selection of books that children may avail of. Please do visit the library on Sunday.

7.  Sunday satsanga schedule

During months of June, July and August, we will have Summer Schedule, i.e. only one session of classes. The timing for Sunday satsangas will be:

     10:50 AM – 12:30 PM      Adult Satsanga, CHYKs class and
                                          Bala Vihar classes for grades PreK through 11
      
Bhajana, Slokathon, Orchestra and Language classes will not be conducted during summer session.

Lunch program will continue as usual, after the satsanga at 12:30 PM.

8.  Upakarma – Thread Changing Ceremony at Sivalaya – Tuesday, Aug 24, 2010

Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya will organize Upakarma (Thread changing) ceremony on August 24th, 2010. Upakarma is an annual ritual during which Brahmins get a new sacred thread and renew their commitment to the study of the Vedas.
 
The ceremony will be lead by Sri Ganesaji and will last for one and a half hours. Devotees will be provided all the materials required to perform the puja including sacred thread. Interested individuals should register at Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya.

Puja time: 6:30 – 8:00 AM (please be seated inside Sivalaya by 6:15 AM)
Contribution: $31/Individual + Daksina to the priest.
