Gita Chanting Competition (GCC)                 Saturday, Apr. 25 

In honor of our Pujya Gurudeva Swami Chinmayananda’s Janma Jayanti, Bala Vihar children are invited to participate in the Gita Chanting Competition. This year as we celebrate Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Chinmaya Movement, Bhagavad Gita Chapter 12 (Bhakti Yoga) is selected for the competition. 

NEW! Explanation of meaning for the Gudakesa and Dhananjaya groups

Classes are scheduled to help children learn the explanation of Chapter 12. The schedule is as follows:

Session II : Sunday, March 22 at 10:30 AM

Session I : Sunday, March 29 at 10:30 AM

Where: S201 (8th Grade Classroom)

Please bring a printed copy of Chapter 12, to the classes.

CMH Competition Date: Saturday, April 25

Last Date for Registration: Tuesday, March 31

GCC Classes: Sundays, till April 19th

Lock-In for Bala Vihar Grades 5 to 8   Friday, Apr. 3

The Student Council is holding its annual Lock-In for Bala Vihar children in grades 5-8. This is an overnight social filled with games and entertainment for our children and is a much-awaited event. 

Drop off: 7 PM, Friday, April 3

Pick up: 8 AM, Saturday, April 4

Registration Fee: $10 for children & $5 parent volunteers

The student council will be available at the desk in the dining area on Sunday to assist you with your registration and questions. Sunday, March 29th is the last Sunday to purchase your tickets at the mission. Spots are limited! 

Adult supervision is required for every lock-in held at the mission. We request interested parents to sign up as volunteers when they register.

Sri Rama Navami at Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya    Thursday, Mar. 26

Sri Rama Navami will be celebrated at Saumyakasi Sivalaya on Thursday, Mar 26. Plan to participate in the special pujas on this occasion, with friends and family and receive Lord Rama’s grace and blessings.

11:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Sri Ram Ashtottara Puja and Arati

 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Sri Rama Raksa Stotra Parayana and Puja followed by Arati

Sri Rama Raksa Stotra Puja – $21 per family (sponsor)

Sri Rama Astottara Arcana – $11 per family. Sri Rama Astottara Arcana will be performed on request any time during the temple hours.

CORD USA Summer Service Visit     July 4 – July 18

We’re excited to announce that applications for CORD USA Summer Service Visits 2026 are now open for chaperones! To ensure the best experience for everyone involved, please take note of the following important information:

Where: CORD Siruvani, India

Dates: Saturday, July 4, 2026 through Saturday July 18, 2026

Registration Fee: $1500

  • $250 non-refundable fee per person for application registration
  • $1250 after the application is accepted

Chaperone Selection: Student applications will open only after chaperones have been selected. Once chosen, chaperones will receive all relevant information.

Full Program Commitment: Chaperones and students must commit to attending the entire program. Partial participation is not permitted.

Individual Applications: Each student must complete their own application independently. Applications submitted by a parent or guardian will be disqualified.

Visa and OCI Requirements: Participants must meet the visa requirements set by the Government of India or hold an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card.

Accurate Contact Information: Ensure all email addresses are entered correctly during the application process. We are not responsible for errors, especially in the email addresses provided.

Self-Reliance During the Program: Students will spend two weeks in rural India, away from their families. They must be self-reliant and use their own email and cell phones for preparatory meetings and communication.

Email Acknowledgment: After submitting your application, you will receive an email acknowledgment. Further updates will be communicated via email—please check your spam folder regularly.

Recommendation Letter: As a chaperone, we require a recommendation from your Chinmaya Mission Center coordinator. As a student participant, we require a recommendation letter from your current Bala Vihar teacher. An email will be automatically sent to her/him once you apply.

Payment and Visit Details: Detailed payment and visit information can be found in the FAQ document. It is essential to download, read, and accept the terms and conditions before applying. Applications are evaluated by a National team and their decisions are final.
