Bala Vihar Open House (Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008)

Teachers are looking forward to seeing the parents and share the class information with them. Plan to attend open house this Sunday, as it provides a good opportunity to know your child’s Bala Vihar curriculum and teacher as well as other children and parents.

PLEASE NOTE that Language, Slokathon, Bhajana, Orchestra and Chanting classes will NOT be held this Sunday.

Dipavali Puja (Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008)

We will celebrate our annual Dipavali Puja and offer Guru Daksina at Chinmaya Prabha next Sunday, November 2. Puja will be performed in two sessions from 8:50 AM to 10:30 AM and from 10:50 AM to 12.30 PM. Everyone is requested to come in festive clothes and bring following items for puja:

    Coin/Lamp/Account Book in a decorated plate for Laksmi Puja
    Another lamp in a decorated plate for Visnusahasranama Puja
    Yellow Rice and Flowers
    A third plate with a lamp for Arati
    Prarthana Piyusa
    Guru Daksina Envelope
    Match Box, Plastic bags, Paper napkins etc.

Please check the web-flier for more details. All the karmayogis from First Colony-New Territory III (three) KYG are requested to stay back and help in preparations this Sunday afternoon.
 
You will receive your Pledge forms through email in the next few days. Please bring your pledge forms on Nov 2.

Dipavali at Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya (Tue Oct. 28, 2008)

On the occasion of Dipavali, Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya will have special pujas on Tuesday, October 28. The Mandir will be open through the day from 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM. All are invited to visit the Mandir on this auspicious day. Sri Laksmi Astottara-sata-nama arcana will be performed on request all day.
 
Sri Laksmi Puja will be performed at 8:00 AM and Sri Mahalaksmi Puja will be performed at 6:30 PM followed by Maha Arati. Yajaman (and sponsoring Puja, please contact Jay Deshmukh at 832-541-0059.
 
We need volunteers to help decorate the temple and courtyard with lamps and rangoli. The decorations will be done on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday as follows:
 
Sunday after class Courtyard and Temple decoration:
      – Set up 500 diyas & rangolis & decorative pillars
      – Hang christmas lights on trees
      – Make garlands
      – Clean side walls and hang toran in the temple

Monday evening Temple decoration:
      – Set up lamps and mandala

Tuesday evening before puja:
      – Light all lamps inside and outside the temple (more than 1000 lamps)
 
Please see Jay Deshmukh and/or Meena Aggarwal after class for volunteering with the above activities. We need 20 men and 20 ladies on all three days.
