1. New Bala Vihar Year Starts – Sunday Sep. 08, 2013
Our New Bala Vihar year and two sessions of classes will start from September 08 2013. The timings will be as under:

A special Ganesa Puja will be performed by all Bala Vihar children on the opening day. Please note special instructions for this very important day:
- All children from PreK to Grade 12 should come straight to Sarasvati Nilayam.
- Please have the children wear socks as they will be walking to the temple without shoes.
- Please make sure that children do not carry any bags or books with them.
- Please tell your children to bring a coin to offer to the Lord.
- All entrances will be cordoned by the Welcome team; please follow their instructions about entering Sarasvati Nilayam and Smrti.
We encourage all adults and children to wear festive Indian clothes to herald the spirit of Puja.
Please plan to come early and be seated by 8:30 AM for the first session and 11:15 AM for the second session.
After the Bala Vihar classes Children in Grades Pre K – 3 must be picked up from their classroom by parents. Please see the classroom assignment chart for details.
Bhajana, Slokathon, Orchestra and Language classes will start from Sunday, Sep. 22.
2. Ganesa Caturthi – Monday September 9, 2013
Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya welcomes one and all to come and receive the blessings of Lord Ganesa on the auspicious occasion of Ganesa Caturthi on Monday September 9,2013. The program is as follows:
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Varasiddhi Vinayaka Puja
8:00 PM – 8:30 PM Darsana and Prasada
Sri Ganesa Astottara-sata-nama Arcana will be performed all day long on request.
Puja Sponsorship: $21
Note: Rudrabhisekam will be performed at 5:00pm on Monday Sep 9, 2013.
There will be a special Ganesa Arcana and Arati every day from Tuesday, Sep 10 to Saturday Sep 14, 2013 at 7:30pm.
3. Need two additional Hindi Teachers for our Bala Vihar students
We need two additional Hindi teachers- one to teach after the 1st session and the second one to teach after the 2nd session. Interested members are requested to sign up at the Welcome Desk.
4. SAT Teachers/ Volunteers needed for our youth
For classes starting in September/October, we need additional volunteers /teachers, who should be able to teach English reading and writing skills to High School students in Grades 9 & 10. The current SAT teachers will help to get the new teachers oriented.
Interested members are requested to sign up at the Welcome Desk.
5. Ayurvedic Consultation at CMH
Vaidya Sunita Tarkunde conducts Ayurvedic Consultations for members of Chinmaya Mission Houston on Monday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Tapovan room (the basement of our mandir). Each individual gets approximately 15 minutes for wellness consultations.

There is no fee for these consultations, but donations are welcome. Checks should be made payable to “CMH.”
