Bala Vihar Opening Day                      Sunday, Aug. 30

 

Satsang timings:

8:35 AM – 10:15 AM     Satsanga I for adults & Bala Vihar grades Pre-KG to 12

10:30 AM – 11:15 AM Language classes, Bhajana/Orchestra/Slokathon and Adult Chanting

11:20 AM – 1:00 PM     Satsanga II for adults & Bala Vihar grades Pre-KG to 12

Important Reminders:

  • Parents, please pick up children in Grades Pre-K – 3 from their classrooms after Bala Vihar and extra classes.
  • Extra classes start this Sunday, including Languages, Slokathon, Bhajana, Orchestra, and Adult Chanting.
  • Only students who opted for extra classes during the re-enrollment are eligible to attend. No new registrations will be accepted.
  • This Sunday, parents please accompany your child to their Language class, Bhajan & Orchestra and Slokathon class for important details and a great start!

CMH is Closed for Labor Day Weekend                     Sunday, Sep. 6

In observance of Labor Day, Chinmaya Mission Houston will not host Bala Vihar classes or Adult Satsanga on Sunday, September 6. Classes and Satsanga will resume their regular schedule on Sunday, September 13. 

New Study Groups

Study groups offer an opportunity to come together every week and explore the texts through guided reading, discussion and reflection.

We are happy to announce the beginning of two new study groups on Pancadasi and Self Unfoldment. We invite everyone interested in exploring Vedantic wisdom and deepening their understanding of the Self to sign up before the below-mentioned deadlines.

Details for both the study groups are provided below. Zoom links will be provided for those who sign up before the deadline.

Pancadasi –

Pancadasi is a foundational text of Advaita Vedanta by Swami Vidyaranya that systematically unfolds the nature of the Self

  • Text: “Pancadasi” Commentary by Swami Tejomayananda (available at CMH bookstore)
  • Subject: Explanation of the four Great Statements (Maha Vakyas) of Vedanta, and the example of The Nataka-Dipah leading to The Bliss of Reality
  • Conducted by: Anand Gupta
  • Timings: Wednesdays, 7:20 PM – 8:45PM, via ZOOM 
  • Start Date: Wednesday, Sept. 9

Self Unfoldment –

Self Unfoldment is a clear and practical guide to understanding the mind, the Self, and the journey of inner growth. Through this study, we will explore the timeless Vedantic wisdom of the text and reflect on how it can be applied in our daily lives.

  • Subject: A succinct explanation of the fundamentals of Hinduism
  • Conducted by: Anil Sheth
  • Timings: Mondays, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM via ZOOM 
  • Start Date: Monday, Sept. 14

Pujya Gaurang Uncle’s 80th birthday Celebrations   Sunday, Oct. 11

With profound reverence and heartfelt gratitude, we are blessed to announce the 80th birthday celebrations of our Acharya Pujya Gaurang Uncle. This milestone is not only a celebration of eight decades of remarkable life but also an occasion for us to express our gratitude for the immeasurable kindness, grace, knowledge, guidance and blessings we received from our beloved Pujya Gaurang Uncle.

Please mark your calendars for this auspicious occasion to be celebrated on Sunday, October 11, when we come together as a family to honor this sacred bond, the life and teachings of our Pujya Gaurang Uncle, and seek his continued blessings.

Sri Krishna Janmashtami                 Friday, Sep 04

Sri Krishna Janmastami will be celebrated at Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya on Friday, September 04, 2026. We welcome one and all to come and receive the blessings of Lord Krishna on this auspicious day.
