1. New Member Registration for Bala Vihar – Sunday, Aug 14 & 21
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
This year we will have new member registration in August on two Sundays – Aug. 14 and 21. This is to be ready for the New Year starting September.
- Bala Vihar New Registration will be conducted in Chinmaya Smrti Hall by our Welcome team from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Detailed information will be provided at the time of registration.
- Registration will be open for all grades for both the sessions on the above two dates.
- No Registrations will be done on the Bala Vihar Opening day in September (i.e. Sun. Sep. 11)
- Many of our Bala Vihar classes are nearing capacity, if we reach maximum capacity during registration period, we may stop new registrations altogether for those grades in September.
Please share the above information with interested family and friends.
Use entrance from courtyard into Smrti Hall to meet with Welcome team for new registration.
2. Satsanga Timings – Sunday, Aug 14, 2016
Time: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
During the month of August we will have Satsangas on Sundays for adults from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Topic for the month of August will be Meditation, the classes will be taught by Acarya Sri Gaurangbhai.
Please note there will be no Bala Vihar/Bhajana/Slokathon/Orchestra and Language classes during the month of August.
3. Bala Vihar Enrollment Confirmations for 2016-2017
Bala Vihar enrollment confirmations for the new Bala Vihar year starting September 11, 2016 have been emailed.
If you had missed filling out reenrollment form, you will need to re-register your children. Please make sure to register on Aug 14 or Aug. 21 to ensure your Bala Vihar registration.
If you had filled out reenrollment forms and have not received a confirmation, please email CMHRegistrations@chinmayahouston.org.
4. Upakarma – Thread Changing Ceremony at Sivalaya – Wed, Aug 17, 2016
Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya will conduct Upakarma (thread changing ceremony) on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Upakarma is an annual ritual during which individuals who have gone through the Upanayanam ritual and wear the sacred thread get a new sacred thread and renew their commitment to the study of the Vedas. Devotees will be provided all the materials required to perform the puja including sacred thread.

5. Sri Krsna Janmastami – Thur, Aug 25, 2016
Sri Krsna Janmastami will be celebrated at Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya on Thursday , August 25, 2016. We welcome one and all to come and receive the blessings of Lord Krsna on this auspicious day. After the Puja, please plan to stay back and meditate in the serene environment of our beautiful Saumyakasi Sivalaya. The schedule is as follows:
