2. Gita Chanting Competition for CMH – Sat. May 2, 2015

As part of Pujya Gurudeva’s birth centenary celebrations, Chinmaya Mission Worldwide has organised an International Gita Chanting Competition.

The first round of competition (Competition for CMH) will be held on May 2.

Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15 has been selected for this year’s competition.

The competition will be held in various groups based on children’s age.

The Gita chanting classes will be held every Sunday at Chinmaya Prabha from February 08 to April 26 as under:

Bala Vihar children are required to attend classes for their respective sessions.

3. Lock-In for Bala Vihar Grades KG to 2 – Fri. Feb. 27, 2015

The Student Council is holding its annual Lock-In for Bala Vihar children in KG to 2nd Grade. This is a social evening filled with games and entertainment for our children, and is a much awaited event.

Tickets: $10 for children & $5 for volunteers

A lock-in with so many small children needs a lot of supervision. We are therefore requesting interested adults to sign up at the ticket desk.

4. Service Project for Youth at CORD, Sidhbari – July 2015

Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development CORD USA organizes Service visits to CORD centers in India, for high school students every year.

Registration is now open for summer 2015. This year there are two separate service projects. One will be in CORD Sidhbari, in Himachal Pradesh and the other at CORD Siruvani, in Tamil Nadu. Both projects will be held in July and each will last two weeks.

Chinmaya Mission Houston students who are 15 years and older, and parent volunteers have been participating for the past 3 years and have found these service visits to be extraordinary opportunities to serve others and experience the joy of service. Chinmaya Mission Houston has been accepted into the matching gift programs at Chevron, JP Morgan Chase, Shell, Microsoft, Citgo, and Apple and Phillips 66 (recent addition).

These employers match employee contributions made to a company approved non-profit organization. If you are an employee of one of these companies, please avail of this facility by contacting the appropriate department within your organization. Some employers like Chevron even match employee volunteer hours by making a financial contribution that they compute based on the number of volunteer hours an employee has put in.
