2. CMH Student Council is seeking new members
We invite CMH Bala Vihar high school students to apply for Student Council. We will be selecting up to 20 new members. Following is the selection process:
- CMH Bala Vihar High School Students to submit a one page essay on “Why I like Chinmaya Mission Houston? Activities I am involved in at CMH”. Please specify for how many years you have been attending the Mission.
- Please send the essay by email to “CMHSTUDENTCOUNCIL@GMAIL.COM”.
- Deadline for submitting the essay is October 3, 2016
- Selection will be confirmed by email on October 10, 2016.
3. New Member Orientation – Sun. Oct. 2, 2016
On Sunday Oct. 2 we will be having an orientation for new members or those who have never attended a CMH orientation before. We encourage all new members to avail this opportunity to learn a little bit more about our facility and its program.
Time: 10:20 AM
Place: 6th grade class room.
4. CMH Navaratri celebration – Sat. Oct. 15, 2016
Date: Saturday, Oct. 15 in the evening
Place: New Stafford Centre at Cash Road, in Stafford, TX
Time: 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM
Tickets: (price includes dinner)
Members – $20/- each
All Bala Vihar children – Free
Please note that we still need to know the number of Bala Vihar children who will be attending the event. Therefore, remember to provide this information when you purchase your tickets online.

Tickets for the Garba will also be sold at Mission on Sundays Oct. 02 & Oct. 09 in the Dining Area, after both the sessions.

Raas and Garba practice session Sunday, Oct. 02, 2016
The Navaratri spirit is building up. Some preparation ahead of time makes any event more enjoyable. We have our seasoned Raas and Garba members wanting to share the basic steps of this dance form, so we can all thoroughly enjoy the celebration.
Two practice sessions will be held on Sunday, Oct. 02 at the end of both sessions. Please plan to join these fun sessions.
5. Complimentary set of four CDS – “Jaya Adya Shakti”

We are happy to announce that once again in the spirit of Navaratri, Dr, Anil and Rucha Sheth have generously sponsored a set of four CDs – “Jaya Adya Shakti” Vol 1,2,3,4, for each family collecting their Garba tickets on the next two Sundays, while quantities last.
6. CMH Annual Diwali Puja & Gurudaksina – Sun. Oct. 30, 2016
Our annual Diwali puja and Gurudaksina will be performed at CMH on Sunday, October 30. In the spirit of giving every year we also have a food drive for the Houston Food Bank, around Diwali. Details on this event will be given in the next few weeks. Please mark your calendars for now.
7. CHYK Camp at CMH – MLK Weekend Jan. 13 – 16, 2017
Face everything and Rise Retreat: Will you conquer fear, or will fear conquer you?
The Houston CHYKs would like to invite you all to join us for a fear-fighting weekend guided by Acharya Vivekji from Niagara Falls at the Face Everything and Rise Retreat over MLK weekend Jan 13-16, 2017. The camp will focus on overcoming fear and coping with the stress it causes.
It is open to CHYKs 11th grade and up, and will take place in the CM Houston center and at a nearby hotel. Registration is now open, at https://www.chykwest.com/houstoncamp2017/.
