1. Mahasivaratri Celebrations – Feb 27 –Mar 02, 2014

Mahasivaratri, the most pious of all Hindu festivals is on Thursday, Feb. 27. For our CMH family it is even more special because of our temple – Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya. Every year thousands of devotees flock to our temple to seek the blessings of Lord Siva.

The grand celebration is on Thursday, which is the actual Mahasivaratri day, and will continue through to Friday and Sunday. Please plan to attend all events. The event details are as follows:

Thu. Feb. 27, 2014

           9:00 AM &   7:00 PM     Special puja and Rudrabhisekam

  9:00 AM to  9:45 PM Ksirabhisekam to Utsavalingam w/family for devotees

10:30 PM to 12:00 PM Continuous chanting followed by Meditation

Midnight Maha Mangala Arati and Prasada

The night of Mahasivaratri day is considered to be very conducive to Dhyana and Meditation. This year we will have continuous LIVE chanting of “Om Namah Sivaya” from 10:30 PM onwards. Designated singers will be leading the chant and all devotees will follow.

We even have tents set up on the footsteps of the temple to provide comfortable seating. We encourage all members to be a part of this divine and peaceful experience.

Maha Mrtyunjaya Homa for good health and well being will be performed in the Smrti Hall. Please allow yourself enough time for parking etc. and plan to be seated by 8:35 AM and 11:20 AM for either session.

Please note, that we will not be having regular Satsanga and Lunch program on Sunday, Mar. 02.

All celebrations are open to public.

Please plan to participate with your family and also inform your non-CMH friends and family so they can take advantage of this once a year special puja.

2. Lock-In for Bala Vihar Grades KG to 2 – Friday Mar 7, 2014

The Student Council is holding its annual Lock-In for Bala Vihar children in KG to 2nd Grade. This is a social evening filled with games and entertainment for our children, and is a much awaited event.

  From: Friday, March 7 7:00 PM

  To: Saturday, March 8 8:00 AM

  Tickets: $10 for children & $5 for volunteers

A lock-in with so many small children needs a lot of supervision. We are therefore requesting interested adults to sign up at the ticket desk.

Only 20 out of 120 spots are open now. This Sunday will be the last day to purchase your tickets. Tickets will be available in the Dining Area. If you have any questions please contact the CMH Student Council at cmhstudentcouncil@gmail.com

3. New Member Orientation – Sun. Mar. 09, 2014

On Sunday March 09, we will be having an orientation for new members and/ or those who have never attended a CMH orientation so far. We encourage all new members to avail this opportunity to learn a little bit more about our facility and its program.

Place: In the class across the library on the second floor.

4. Holi Celebration – Sun. Mar. 16, 2014

Please mark your calendar for this colorful and fun festival. We will be celebrating Holi after the second session at 1:45 PM on Sunday, Mar. 16. Please look out for more details next week.

5. Gita Chanting Competition – Sat. May 10, 2014

The Gita chanting competition will be held on May10, on the occasion of Pujya Gurudeva’s birthday. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 12 has been selected for this year’s competition. The competition will be grouped by different ages.

Along with the regular competition for children, the adults are also invited to participate in Gita Parayana. Details on Gita Parayana for adults will be announced in the coming weeks.
