2. CHYK Houston Day Retreat – Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015
Chinmaya Mission Center – Beaumont
Only CHYKs and high school seniors are eligible for this Retreat.
On Saturday, August 22, Houston CHYK is hosting an all – day retreat at Chinmaya Mission Beaumont! This is a great opportunity to get to know Swami Paratmanandaji and interact with other Texas CHYKs as well as ask questions and develop a deeper understanding of the Gita. Transportation to and from the Beaumont Center will be provided via carpool from our CMH center and food will be taken care of, so all you need to bring is yourself!

3. Upakarma – Thread Changing Ceremony at Sivalaya – Sat. Aug. 29, 2015
Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya will conduct Upakarma (thread changing ceremony) on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Upakarma is an annual ritual during which individuals who have gone through the Upanayanam ritual and wear the sacred thread get a new sacred thread and renew their commitment to the study of the Vedas. Devotees will be provided all the materials required to perform the puja including
sacred thread. Interested individuals should register at Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya or send an email to skethire@hotmail.com or sgs2680@gmail.com

Sri Krsna Janmastami will be celebrated at Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya on Friday, September 04, 2015. We welcome one and all to come and receive the blessings of Lord Krsna on this auspicious day. After the Puja, please plan to stay back and meditate in the serene environment of our beautiful Saumyakasi Sivalaya. The schedule is as follows:

5. Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) for CHYKs – Jun. 6 – Jul. 27, 2016 at Chinmaya Mangalam, Barry, Texas
Inspired by YEP India, YEP America was initiated in 2013. In both India and the US, the YEP program has followed the age-old gurukula system of learning, where students live and learn in the ashram with their teachers, to learn the principles of Vedanta, serve the community, and grow as dynamic, positive contributors to society. With the guidance and blessings of His Holiness Swami Tejomayananda YEP will be conducted at Chinmaya Mangalam, Barry, Texas, between June 6-July 27, 2016. The program will be led by Swami Sarveshanandaji (Resident Acharya of CM Dallas-Fort Worth and National Director of CHYK West), Swami Ramakrishnanandaji (Acharya of Chinmaya International Foundation), Acharya Vivek Guptaji (Deputy Director of CHYK West) and other Acharyas from Chinmaya Mission West. Visiting faculty will also be drawn from management industries.

6. Summer schedule for CMH for the Month of August 2015
All regular Sunday classes, i.e. Bala Vihar, adult satsangas as well as all extra classes, will be closed during the month of August, 2015 at CMH.
All activities will resume on Sunday, September 13. Bala Vihar New Year will start on Sept. 13.

Chinmaya Mission Houston has been accepted into the matching gift programs at Chevron, JP Morgan Chase, Shell, Microsoft, Citgo, Apple and Phillips 66 (recent addition).
These employers match employee contributions made to a company approved non-profit organization. If you are an employee of one of these companies, please avail of this facility by contacting the appropriate department within your organization. Some
employers like Chevron even match employee volunteer hours by making a financial contribution that they compute based on the number of volunteer hours an employee has put in.
